I'm 43 years old and have been wanting to write a book/publish articles/write a blog or do some kind of creative writing for about 20 years and now I have finally started! The catalyst for all this? Well, that's where the story could potentially become depressing....BUT it's not going to because this blog is designed to be a diary, a list of observations, a way of thanking people around me and just general thoughts that I can put in writing and don't need to bother other people with (you have the choice of whether to keep reading or not!). So ultimately, I hope it will be a light-hearted, sometimes emotional, record of my days over the coming months.

So the K/C word is the catalyst.. K voor Kanker /C for Cancer. I live in the Netherlands so all my appointments have been done through Dutch. I'm still not sure if doing it all in Dutch has been an easier process... I have to admit that I don't understand every term the doctors use but actually, do I need to? I mean, I get the big picture... it's Kanker; stage 4 lung cancer which has spread. How much more do you need to know?!
