How can I not write about this?! What a gift!
Tomorrow evening, yes, that is Tuesday 18th July 2017, I will be going to see Coldplay in concert in Stad de France in Paris!!! Oh my goodness me.. can you believe it?! I still can’t believe it is happening, and happening tomorrow. Joining me in this amazing experience will be Di and Es, which makes it even more special. How fantastic!
We get the train to Paris, Di and Bernd have organised a wheelchair for me, so we are seated in the wheelchair area which I think means we get quite a good view, and of course, if I need a wheelchair, there is one for me which is a relief. Es knows the hotels in Paris well, (not for some dodgy reason!) because she is there regularly for work so she has stayed in the hotel we are in, and has checked that the room, sorry, suite that we have, has a bath, which it does! Again, more relief! Honestly, my two recurring emotions at the moment are happiness and relief! In pain? Solution? = hot water bottle or a bath. Result? = huge sigh of relief! Receiving apps, mails or messages from friends. Result? = happiness. (side effect of happiness? = tears!)
I genuinely feel blessed today. I really hate how that sounds pious or up my own arse, because it isn’t meant to be. I just keep getting reminders of how many wonderful, funny, kind, supportive, lovely, amazing people I have in my life. I didn’t feel blessed this morning at 4 am when I woke up with stomach pain, the tumours in my groin throbbing and lower back ache. I got up and went downstairs taking my nose spray with me… glad that my carbuncle is much less of a carbuncle and more of an unimpressive teenage pimple, which means it is easier to fit the nozzle of the nose spray up there! Half watching CSI somewhere or other (how many of those series are there?!) and writhing around trying to get a comfortable position, was how I spent the time between about 5 a.m. and 6.30 a.m. Eventually I called Ed and asked him to put the bath on for me…. feeling blessed started here. Ed got up and sprang into action (that isn’t how fast it was, of course..!) … about 20 mins later I was easing myself into a possibly potentially dangerously hot bath, I let out my first sigh of relief of the day, and it was a good one. Another person to add to my feeling blessed line: the builder who did our renovation last year and put the bath in. I still can’t quite believe the timing of that. We have lived in this house since January 2009. We rented it until around 2013 (I think) and then got the opportunity to buy, which we did and then gradually upgraded things here and there. Having a bath, and a slightly larger kitchen were things we had discussed on and off, even before we bought the place, but it didn’t come to fruition until May 2016 when the builders struck their first blow to the kitchen wall! In a freak series of events, our building work didn’t finish on schedule; I realise this will come as a shock to many of you, I mean builders almost always stick to their schedule. Well, these didn’t. The work started in May and finished in September. However, by the time we got to September, things in the health department were evolving, so worries about paintwork not being finished or some cracked bathroom tiles, faded into insignificance. What was important was the fact that I had a brand new, fully functioning bath in my house (and a toilet upstairs!) ….. can you imagine the sigh of relief I let out when I had my first bath?! Suffice to say, I think the neighbours heard!
Well I appear to have gone uncharacteristically off topic! I am very, very, very excited about tomorrow… any lack of sleep may be down to sheer giddiness tonight!
So thank you in advance to Coldplay for providing an evening of brilliance and another thank you to every single person reading this in my support network. I value every one of you, however large, or small or miniscule you think your contribution may be.
Whoop whoop! Might need to have a bath, that usually sends me to sleep! .. and my book for a swim!
